    The primary difference between these two encoding format is that MP3 is an audio encoding format and used to compress audio files Whereas MP4 is a digital media format which is capable of encoding audio as well as video formats Moreover MP4 can also store other data like still images and subtitles MP3 uses lossy data compression technology for compression but MP4 uses AAC encoding and Apple Lossless format for the same purpose
